Girl critically hurt when hair caught in carnival ride

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — A young girl has been hospitalized in critical condition after being hurt on a carnival ride at the Cinco de Mayo Festival in Omaha.
Police say the accident happened around 1:30 p.m. Saturday. Television station WOWT reports the girl was taken to Nebraska Medicine with a skull fracture. A witness told the station that the girl's hair got caught in a spinning ride called King's Clown.
WOWT reports that other children in her compartment began screaming for help, and the ride was stopped.
Television station KETV reports that the girl is 11 years old, and that the ride has been taped off. Other rides at the carnival continued to operate on Saturday.
