CANTON, Ohio (AP) — Authorities say the parents of a 2-year-old northeast Ohio boy have been arrested and jailed after the toddler became stuck in a toilet while left alone in the family's apartment.

The (Canton) Repository reports (http://bit.ly/1SC4Xfk ) that police were called to a Canton apartment Thursday after neighbors reported hearing a child crying for 30 minutes. Officers rescued the boy after a maintenance worker let them inside.

A Canton police lieutenant told the newspaper the boy's mother arrived two hours later and said a sister was supposed to be babysitting. The lieutenant says the woman couldn't remember her sister's last name.

The father was eventually found and arrested. Both parents are 20. The boy is in custody of child protective services.

Police say they also found three marijuana plants in a cupboard.
