EDWARDSVILLE, Pa. (AP) -- A northeastern Pennsylvania woman accused in the starvation deaths of seven dogs has pleaded guilty to multiple counts of animal cruelty.
The Citizens' Voice (http://bit.ly/1jqVENu) said 50-year-old Karen Reilly of Edwardsville pleaded guilty Thursday to four misdemeanor counts of cruelty to animals, 12 summary counts of cruelty to animals and related charges.
In exchange, more than 30 additional charges were dropped. Reilly is also barred from owning animals for 15 years.
Court documents say a humane officer noticed a "smell of death" coming from a mobile home in September and found seven dead dogs along with 12 live dogs that were severely emaciated.
Police say Reilly was evicted and left the dogs behind.
Reilly declined to comment Thursday.
