HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) -- A Pennsylvania state senator has acknowledged that she was asked to leave a bar after a heated discussion with state House Speaker Sam Smith, although she denies hitting a woman there, as the woman claimed in a Facebook post.
The Philadelphia Inquirer reports Sen. Lisa Boscola wouldn't say whether she had been drinking, and that she would try to talk to the woman who made the accusation.
The Northampton County Democrat tells the Inquirer that she fights back with words when legislative leaders are condescending to her.
Boscola says in a statement that she had an animated discussion with other lawmakers, and called the conversation "frank and passionate." She says the tone may have made others in the bar uncomfortable, and that she complied with a request to leave.
