READING, Pa. (AP) -- An eastern Pennsylvania man is behind bars on allegations that he tried to snatch a baby from her stroller.
WFMZ-TV says court documents allege that 33-year-old Nevin Walls tried to lift the baby from her stroller as her mother stood in line Monday at the welfare office in downtown Reading.
The baby's mother, Destinea Torres, told police that Walls kept looking at her 2-month-old daughter and then grabbed the infant but couldn't get her out of the stroller because she was strapped in.
A struggle ensued and the office security guard stepped in to help Torres.
Walls was charged with simple assault and reckless endangerment and sent to the Berks County jail on $100,000 bail. It couldn't immediately be determined if he has a lawyer.
