NEW YORK (AP) -- A Brooklyn woman says her mother accidentally moved a stranger's car with a key that fit two vehicles.
Cheryl Thorpe was house-sitting for her daughter, Nekisia Davis, when the mix-up occurred on April 7.
Thorpe had agreed to move cars for Davis and her friends because of street cleaning regulations.
She even texted them to proudly report: "All cars moved successfully."
When they got home from vacation, Davis' friend discovered the Honda that Thorpe had moved wasn't hers.
It took 10 days to track down the owner, who thought she'd been targeted by a professional car thief.
According to CBS New York Davis now jokes that her mom stole a car while its owner was eating brunch.
Honda says it's very rare for a key to fit two cars.
