BERWICK — City Hall here will be closed Tuesday, but emergency personnel will be manning the phones there in case residents need help.

Council President Alvin Hill said residents can call 570-752-2723 if they need help starting at 6 a.m. Tuesday.

Volunteers and staff with four-wheel drives will be able to help pick up medication and deal with other emergencies.

Any Berwickians with four-wheel drives who want to volunteer should call the borough’s emergency management center at the same number after 7 a.m.

Firefighters manned every fire station overnightt, said Chief Randy Remphrey Sr.

The Berwick Area Ambulance Association is also keeping additional staff members at the station overnight, Hill said.

City Hall has 15 cots with blankets and pillows in case it’s needed as a shelter; Reliance Fire Hall and Berwick High School might also be used as emergency shelters.

Berwick residents should stay off the roads during the storm and park off the roads, if possible, to allow the Department of Public Works to plow.

The Berwick Hospital Center will be open, said Renita Fennick, spokeswoman. However, all outpatient sites and Berwick Medical Professionals offices will be closed.
