Bloomsburg announces snow-clearing plans

Last updated: February 2, 2015 - 3:27pm

The Town of Bloomsburg will clear its downtown parking lots of snow from late tonight into Tuesday morning and from late Tuesday into Wednesday morning. Those who don't move their vehicles from the lots scheduled to be plowed will receive a $50 ticket and a tow bill, town police warn. Here are the lots that will be plowed overnight tonight: * Zone C - the permit area in the lot near the Bloomsburg Diner * Zone D - the permit area of the East Pine Avenue lot behind WHLM. * Zone E - the permit area of the Pine Avenue lot behind Rose Marie's * Zone G - the permit area of the lot behind the Bloomsburg Public Library * Zone I - the permit area of the West Pine Avenue lot behind the post office. Those who usually park in those permit areas must move their cars to metered spots in the lots, or spots on Main Street, before midnight. The town will not enforce its usual 2-5 a.m. parking ban on Main Street early Tuesday or early Wednesday to make room for permit parkers looking for a space, town police said. However, those parked on Main Street do need to have their vehicles moved by 9 a.m., the same time the public works crew plans to have lot clearing completed. Then, from late Tuesday into Wednesday morning, town crews plan to clear the following lots: * All metered spaces in the public lots * Zone F - the parking lot by St. Columba's Church * Zone J - the Hoppes lot on West Main Street. Permit holders in Zone F and J may park at a Main Street meter until Wednesday at 9 a.m., police say. Anyone with questions can call the Bloomsburg Police Department at 570-784-6779.
