DANVILLE — A bicyclist involved in a Nescopeck accident on Wednesday has been declared brain dead, and the Montour County Coroner's Office is seeking any information they can find on his identity, it said in a press release on Thursday.

A witness had said the man suffered a serious head wound after a pickup truck hit his bicycle. The impact threw him to the pavement where he struck his head. While he was taken to Geisinger Medical Center, Montour County Coroner Scott Lynn said that the bicyclist was declared brain dead as of 2 a.m. Thursday. Lynn said efforts to identify the man so far, including fingerprinting, have not proven fruitful.

A press release from the coroner's office described the man as "a Caucasian male," "5' 9'' in height, weighs 180 pounds (with) blue eyes," and said he is from 40 to 60 years old. His short gray hair is approximately 1/4 inch in length and balding in front.

The victim was wearing in black IZOD shorts with a black belt, neon green shirt and white socks with gray/black sneakers. He was riding a purple and green Trek 7000 bike.

Lynn asked anyone who may potentially know the identity of the bicyclist to call the coroner's office at 570-275-1867 or email coroner@montourcounty.gov
