Moose warns of unauthorized fundraising

BLOOMSBURG -- The Moose Exchange wants people to know that the only authorized place for people to donate money to the non-profit that owns the building ravaged by fire yesterday is the donation button at www.mooseexchange.org, its director says. Since the fire, Director Oren Helbok says he's heard of fundraising efforts on Facebook and elsewhere, but the Moose is not involved in them, he said. Helbok didn't know the intentions of others trying to raise money in the exchange's name. He hasn't had time to research them since he and the board have been busy recovering from the fire. But "If it's not at www.mooseexchange.org, it's unauthorized," Helbok said. In coming weeks, Helbok said officials at the Exchange will have a better idea how people help them. "We recognize how much people want to help," Helbok said. "But until we really get in and know where we're going" it's difficult to say how people can assist, he said.
