Repair work clogs traffic

DANVILLE — A railroad repair project on Continental Boulevard has jammed traffic to a near standstill here, as vehicles are detoured onto Mill Street.

The $54,000 project to raise and level the tracks that cross the boulevard near its intersection with Route 11 began today and will continue through Monday, according to officials with the SEDA-COG Joint Rail Authority.

Workers will also mill and pave the highway approaches to the track.

By 10 a.m., vehicle traffic, which included numerous tractor trailers, had slowed to a crawl on Mill Street.

Congestion is expected to be heavy throughout the remainder of the week, so officials ask that drivers be patient and plan accordingly.
