BLOOMSBURG — Route 11 near the Bloomsburg Fairgrounds has been shut down after a serious motor vehicle accident, and the coroner was called to the scene.

Witnesses said a beige sedan was traveling toward Bloomsburg when it collided almost head-on with a green sedan headed south around 3 p.m.

Bystanders helped the driver of the beige car out through a driver's side window, witnesses said. The passenger in that car was also able to get out of the vehicle.

But the driver of the green car remained in his vehicle after the wreck. The Columbia County Coroner was called to the scene.

We have a reporter and photographer on the scene and will update as we have more information.
