A large ice jam was stopped by a tree that had fallen across Green Creek just outside of Orangeville Tuesday morning.

BLOOMSBURG — Some back roads in Columbia and Montour counties experienced flooding during Tuesday’s rainfall, which thawed icy buildups along small streams, emergency management officials said.

By late afternoon, Rohrsburg Road at Green Creek Road in Orange Township, Columbia County, remained closed to traffic in both directions.

Mountain Road in Catawissa at Schoolhouse Road near a covered bridge was also closed due to water pooling over the roadway.

In Montour County, DeGreen Road and Mill Road were each closed in Derry Township near Washingtonville as was Limestone Road near Strick Road and Hagenbuch Road in Limestone Township, officials said.

Those roads affected by standing water were expected to reopen as water receded into early evening.
