Traffic tie-ups possible today in Danville

DANVILLE -- Motorists traveling through the Danville area on Route 54 should expect traffic backups due to a resurfacing project. As of 12:30 p.m., PennDOT was reporting that traffic was "stop-and-go" along the southbound stretch of Route 54 between Route 642 in Valley Township and the Danville-Riverside Bridge and heavy traffic through the borough. The 2.2-mile micro-surfacing project on Route 54 runs from from the Riverside to Boyd Station in Rush Township. Work began Wednesday and will run through Friday, and possibly Saturday, PennDOT says. In areas of work, traffic will be down to a single lane, with flagging operators alternating traffic.
